Who is the NDIS supporting across Victoria?

Up to 73% of people on the NDIS in Victoria are in the major cities including Melbourne. The highest number of participants live on the Bayside Peninsula area or close to the city – western Melbourne, southern Melbourne and north east Melbourne. The NDIS also supports many people in large regional centres, rural towns and remote locations.

The most common disabilities of people on the NDIS in Victoria are:

  • Intellectual disability 16%
  • Developmental delay 15%
  • Psychosocial disability 12%
  • Deaf or hard of hearing 4%

Around 3% of people on the NDIS in Victoria identify as First Nations Peoples, while 12% come from multicultural backgrounds. As of December 2023, 3,195 Victorian children were also accessing early connections.
