Founded in Brisbane in 1889 by Mother Mary Vincent Whitty, of the sisters of Mercy, Holy Cross has a proud history of servicing the Health and Aged Care Sector for over 130 years and is the longest serving commercial laundry operating in Australia. Having a balanced business in laundry, a decision was made to open a cleaning sector. We pride ourselves on being an Equal Opportunity Employer and a proactive proponent of providing people with disabilities and from disadvantaged backgrounds the opportunity to gain meaningful employment.
We are a registered NDIS service provider and offer supported employment (NDIS participants) and school work experience opportunities for students from local special schools.
We currently employ 28 supported employees and 12 Open employees across both laundry and cleaning with participants receiving on the job training and support tailored to their individual goals and needs which enables them to achieve their personal growth and development. Our Support team have experience in working in the disability sector and are committed to providing a safe, encouraging, and motivational workplace for our staff.
Holy Cross Laundry has a close relationship with our Supported Employees and their families. Our program is about building the skills and confidence they need to maintain and enjoy their job. The skills and disciplines learnt in the work environment transfer into everyday life at home and it is important to us that we work with families to understand our employee’s needs and strengths. We offer a safe and supportive work environment with each of our supported employees working closely with support workers to help and guide them throughout their working day. By doing this we can provide the one-on-one support to each employee and strive to achieve the best outcomes for them. As a Mission based organisation and from feedback received, this is not only important to us but also to those who we do business with
